Alida Ymele
Alida Ymele, a Cameroonian artist based in Douala, poetically explores the fragility, precariousness, and struggles of domestic workers. Through her self-portraits and photographs painted with acrylics, she gives voice to these often invisible women. A graduate of the Nkongsamba Institute of Fine Arts, her work questions gender justice, earning her the 2023 UNRISD Prize and international recognition through numerous exhibitions.
